Drawing from her personal experiences of her most beloved home there, Julie creates captivating art pieces that express the essence and wild beauty found in the area.
Julie moved to Ayrshire in the Summer of 2009, a pivotal moment that shaped her path as an artist. It was once she was there she applied for membership in The Glasgow Society of Women Artists and became an accepted member of the community. Since then, Julie has become an actively engaged member within the group, establishing valuable connections to other artists and showcasing her work beyond studio walls in a variety of galleries and exhibitions across Ayrshire.Through these public displays, she has been able to earn well a deserved recognition for her incredible talent and quality of her work, which has become an cornerstone of her artistic journey.
Her techniques are deeply rooted in her love for the traditional. Created using delicately sculpted layers of oil paint and palette knife techniques, she works to mould paint onto a canvas with impeccable detail. Each stroke and layer in her artwork is carefully crafted and made using precise control to give a strong sense of impressionism and emotion. Through the window of natural grace that is the landscapes of Ayrshire, Julie masterfully chooses the beautiful, vibrant natural colours for her pieces and patterns found in nature to create scenes such as fields, lakes, buildings and forests.
Julie's artistic mission, however, extends beyond personal recognition. She firmly believes in the inclusive nature of art as a medium for all and has been able to offer a variety of tutoring services and demonstrations, sharing her expertise in watercolour and acrylic painting. Through education and sharing of techniques, Julie hopes to ignite a creative spark within others, empowering them to embark on their own artistic journeys so they too can share their own stories.
Julie tells, “I always come back to oil painting, my first love.” And her work has now become testament to this truth.
