Vicky Hilton

Vicky Hilton is a great example of how one artist can make a big difference on their own. Vicky has devoted her time to numerous community art projects in Rotherham. Her work has had a positive impact on the town, from vibrant festivals to community murals.

If you've been exploring Rotherham, you've no doubt come across one of the many murals, art shows, or events that Vicky has either curated or been involved in. From large, colourful festivals in Ferham Park and community murals in the town centre, Eastwood and Wickersley, to bright, vibrant parades outside the Minster and art events at the Old Market Gallery, there's no shortage of art to be found in Rotherham thanks to Vicky's efforts.

Vicky founded Artful Make It Happen in 2017 as a social enterprise that uses the arts as a catalyst for community-led initiatives. Founded in 2010, they have now worked on over 100 projects and hired over 50 people to help deliver grassroots, social action, and artistic programmes. Vicky has been awarded the Sheila Cameron Trophy for her contributions to local heritage.

Vicky believes that creativity is a universal language that can help us better understand each other and the world we live in. The arts have the ability to bring people together and create a sense of community. They can also be used to promote and celebrate a community's heritage, culture, and customs. Through this process, we can better understand each other and the world we live in. "Do it; it’s our duty as creatives, and we can play a huge role in society. We are the change makers, and the only thing certain in this world is change. Vicky Hilton is passionate about her work, and it's clear that she cares deeply about Rotherham and its people. She is an inspiration to us all, and I'm sure she will continue to make a positive difference in Rotherham for many years to come.
