ROAR RESIDENCY

Making Making Visible 2024

WHO ARE WE?

We're ROAR, a non-profit CIC based in Rotherham, dedicated to supporting creativity and the arts. We believe art can make a big difference in people's lives and that everyone has the right to be creative. We want to inspire positive change through the power of creativity.

WHAT DO WE DO?

We focus on supporting creativity in Rotherham, an incredibly diverse town which faces economic challenges.
We know that unfortunately, despite the incredible and diverse communities in the town, that not many people in Rotherham take part in or engage with funded cultural and artistic projects.

HOW DO WE DO IT?

We actively encourage more people to get involved in creative activities for a healthier lifestyle.

We support individuals and groups at all levels to boost confidence, skills, dreams, and success.

We develop practices that are good for the environment. We work with creative communities to help them grow and bring people together through the arts.

ROAR Residency 2024

WHAT IS IT?

We want to ‘Make Making Visible’ and we’re opening up for applications for artists of all disciplines who want to be part of making that happen here in Rotherham.

Each artist-in-residence will receive a stipend of £3000, which is inclusive of all expenses related to the residency, including materials, travel, accommodation, and any additional costs. The artists are encouraged to utilise the budget judiciously to maximise the impact of their creative endeavours. All of ROARs equipment and infrastructure is at the artist's disposal.

The focus of the Residency is to make the "Making Making Visible" theme come to life through the artist's work.

What is Making Making Visible?

It’s a focus by bringing the work of artists to where people are. We want everyone to see how artists work.
We aim to help people discover their creative side and remind everyone of their artistic interests.

We want to tell people about ROAR and share why being part of a creative community is essential. Joining a group can provide support for artists who often feel isolated.

WHEN IS IT?

The residency is expected to last for a period of two months Feb/March 2024 during which time, the artists will be immersed in Rotherham and their own creative process.

WHO IS IT FOR?

We welcome applications from all artists and encourage artists from diverse backgrounds and experiences to apply.
