The Factory
The factory was a great strategy for revitalising empty spaces and town centers as well as saving the property owner money and providing much needed facilities for the artistic community.
In late 2017 ROAR were handed the keys to a huge factory space on Wortley Road, Rotherham. Axisweb work with empty property owners to create a partnership where an empty shop, unit or industrial space are let to arts organisations on a meanwhile lease. Artists are free to organise exhibitions, workshop spaces and studios on the understanding they have to leave within a month if someone lets or sells the building.
In the time Roar had access to the space we were able to offer studio spaces, run workshops, offer rehearsal space, hold exhibitions and artistic residencies.
